Working with ConstructionVR, Max Media has been consulting and running workshops to support the VR efforts of architectural firms in the Boston area, including Payette. ConstructionVR offers full-spectrum consulting in all types of immersive visualization for developers, architects, construction companies, urban planners, and others. Using the HTC Vive as well as Oculus Rift, architects can begin to use the immersive power of VR to inform their planning and design at an early stage of development, saving money and improving the final vision.

Norwalk Aquarium 3D Fish Wall

Developed with Richard Lewis Media Group for the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk, users of all ages color a 2D marine animal, then see it transform into a 3D version on a 40 foot video wall. The project was built in Unity 3D, and included four “2D” kiosks for museum visitors to color their fish, and a separate Unity application that acted as the server and received the user submissions for the video wall display.

Developed with FableVision for the National Center for Families Learning (NCFL) and Dollar General Literacy Foundation, Renegade Buggies is a mobile game that teaches basic budgeting skills to kids by combining gaming and money management skills. Built in Unity 3D for iOS and Android, Max Media developed the game using an infinite runner style, working with 3D models and 2D UI elements to create an engaging fun experience for the player.

Solo: The Virtual Climbing Project

Solo is an independent project currently in development, conceived and developed by Max Media. Solo has two main branches, one is a climbing game built for virtual reality platforms, including the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. The other is a crowd-sourced mapping project to create realistic 3D models of climbing routes around the world using photogrammetry and other scanning technologies.

Harvard Graduate School of Education SAIL Project

Developed for the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s SAIL program, this project places users in a virtual environment with the purpose of exploring how “walking in someone else’s shoes” can influence learning. The project “allows anyone to control a character within a virtual world to facilitate perspective taking of someone with different beliefs and background.” At the conclusion of their experience, users can “negotiate” with other users in a multi-player virtual negotiation room, where they make decisions based on the characters they have interacted with, the goals for their role (golf course owner or park ranger), and information they have learned.

National Geographic Giant Sequoia Interactive

Developed with Richard Lewis Media Group for National Geographic, this exhibit allows users to explore one of the largest trees in the world, The President giant sequoia. Using a touch screen, users control the view of the tree, projected onto a 40 foot wall in front of them. Both screens are Unity applications running simultaneously, the touch screen communicating the user’s choices to virtually zoom from location to location on the tree. The tree was constructed in Maya with high resolution texture maps and reconstructed in Unity to give a realistic feel to the experience.

Rosetta Stone Lingo Letter Sounds

Lingo Letter Sounds

description

Developed with 360KID for Rosetta Stone, Lingo Letter Sounds is Rosetta Stone’s first entry into the kids language learning market, and part of the “first apps for preschoolers (ages 3-6) that combine English reading with Spanish speaking.” I did the gameplay programming for the application, with another development studio building the “Parents Corner” component and assisting with gameplay bugs. The game was produced in Unity, but uses a 2D approach to gameplay and visual effects. Lingo Letter Sounds is available now on the iTunes App Store.

ipConceived, designed, animated, and programmed a math game for learning basic math facts. Math Nuts gives kids the practice they need to become fluent with their math facts in a fun, easy-to-use game format. Automatic recall of math facts — instead of counting or calculating the answer — is a key component of success in later math such as algebra. Math Nuts calculates your child’s speed and accuracy, shown in the Mastery Level. The game also tracks which problems your child gets wrong and increases the number of times they will be given those problems, helping them get to mastery. Available for sale on iTunes and Google Play.

California Museum Stop the Drop Game

Worked with Richard Lewis Media Group and the California Museum to produce Stop the Drop, an interactive, physics-based game that is part of the Health Happens Here exhibit. Museum visitors help onscreen kids climb ropes to complete their education and graduate. When kids are about to fall from their rope, the user moves the appropriate trampoline into place depending on their need. What can “stop the drop”, homework help, healthy food, activities, transportation, or something else?
